The ethical code of «Geoconflicts & Intelligence Magazine. Journal of Global Security and Terrorism" is inspired by the current guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to provide an ethical approach to the publication of scientific works. The Editorial Board of the Journal shares COPE's recommendations aimed at taking all possible measures to combat negligence and ensure good ethical practices in the publication process. All those involved in the process (Editorial Board, authors and reviewers) must be informed and share the following ethical principles.
DUTIES OF THE EDITORIAL BOARD
Decision on publication: The Editorial Board is responsible for deciding whether or not the articles sent to the Journal are published. After having previously evaluated your publication, the Editorial Board will submit the work to two anonymous reviews (peer review using the double-blind method) carried out by expert referees. The Editorial Board will respect the strategies and editorial approach of the Journal in its decisions. You are also subject to applicable laws regarding defamation, copyright infringement and plagiarism.
Equity and non-discrimination: The Editorial Board decides solely on the basis of the scientific value, relevance and originality of the content of the article without discrimination based on sex, race, gender, religion, ethnic origin, citizenship, sexual orientation, gender identity, age or political orientation of the articles. /as authors.
Confidentiality, conflict of interest and prohibition of use or disclosure: The Editorial Board undertakes not to disclose information about articles proposed for publication to persons other than the author, reviewers, editor or printer, and undertakes not to use the content of unpublished articles for its own research without express consent. in writing from the author.
The Journal uses the peer review process with the double-blind method to guarantee that the material submitted is strictly confidential during the review process, that is, neither the evaluators know who the authors are nor the other way around.
The members of the Editorial Board identify the referees based on their competence to carry out an adequate evaluation of the article for the purposes of its publication.
DUTIES OF REVIEWERS OR PEERS
Contribution to the editorial decision: Peer review is a process to confirm the evaluation of the scientific quality of proposed articles. It also allows the author to improve his/her contribution.
Respect for times: The reviewer who does not feel comfortable or sufficiently qualified for the task of reviewing the research of the manuscript, or considers himself incapable of completing the task within the indicated period, must notify the Editorial Board of the Journal as soon as possible. withdrawing from the review process.
Correctness and objectivity: Peer review must be carried out correctly and objectively. Referees are invited to justify their assessments of the article in an appropriate and documented manner. Any personal judgment about the author is inappropriate. It is not allowed to criticize or personally offend an author. The observations must be technically well formulated and cannot be configured as criticisms of an ideological nature or, in any case, contain scientific-cultural prejudices of a personal nature. Each statement, observation or argument made should preferably be accompanied by its corresponding quote and/or documentation.
Possible indication of texts: The referee is invited to indicate precisely the bibliographic details of the basic works neglected by the author in the article. You must also report any similarities or overlaps of the received text with other works known to you.
Conflict of interest and disclosure: Manuscripts received should be treated as confidential documents. They should not be shown or discussed with anyone who has not been previously authorized by the Editorial Board. Information obtained during the peer review process should be considered reliable and confidential. It cannot be used for personal gain.
Reviewers are obliged to reject the review of articles in which there is a conflict of interest due to specific previous relationships of collaboration or competition with the author - unknown per se but in any case identified by deduction – and/or connections with the authors or entities related to the manuscript.
PROMOTION OF HONEST CONDUCT
In the presence of bad practices, such as plagiarism or any other fraudulent action, the Journal will follow the action protocols established by the Committee on Publication Ethics.
PLAGIARISM CONTROL POLICY
The Journal requires that all actors involved in the article editing process, whether staff from the editorial and review team or the authors themselves, follow the ethical guidelines of the publication. These people have the following responsibilities:
Authors: At the time of submitting a work on the Magazine platform, they must make a declaration of responsibility regarding the originality of the work and that it does not violate intellectual property rights, as well as indicate that they know and accept the content of the regulations by the that the Magazine is governed by and its code of ethics and good practices. The simultaneous submission of the work to another publication must also be communicated by its authors to the members of the editorial team.
Editorial: It will select the texts according to criteria of originality, novelty, relevance and rigor. In the event that a violation of the anti-plagiarism policy is detected before the evaluation, the study will be returned to the author, warning of the fact that its review is not appropriate. If identification occurs during the editorial process, the work will be automatically withdrawn and publication will not proceed. Once the files are published, detection of plagiarism will imply their removal from the website.
Reviewers: They must refuse the assignment to evaluate a work if they do not consider themselves qualified in the subject area or if they cannot undertake the evaluation within the period established by the Journal. On the other hand, they must inform the editorial team of possible fraud or plagiarism that they detect in the evaluated research. Likewise, they must judge the articles objectively and within the established time, as well as justify the reasons why they reject a submission or provide suggestions that strengthen their publication.
PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY STATEMENT
The names and email addresses entered in this Magazine will be used exclusively for the purposes stated therein and will not be provided to third parties or for use for other purposes.
PUBLICATION, ACCESS AND DISTRIBUTION POLICY
The Magazine is published in printed and electronic formats and, therefore, its sending or access to the complete content can only be made to subscribers, although there is partially open online access to certain contents of the Magazine by decision of the Editorial Board. In general, information will be provided online about the Summaries, Abstracts, Keywords and Keywords and, exceptionally, some work or parts thereof other than those of a general nature may be published openly.
The Magazine allows any registered user to read, download and print for strictly personal use, any article, or the entire Magazine. Its commercial distribution over the Internet will not be permitted and is subject to the corresponding criminal or administrative sanction.
